In short
We're hiring a Finance Associate for our Mullingar head office. You'll start with hands-on bookkeeping and finance administration, work directly with senior management, and grow the role as Swaay grows. Recent graduates and early-career finance people are welcome to apply.
Swaay builds modern infrastructure for beverage brands. We decorate aluminium cans digitally and on demand, from a first run of 1,000 cans to full production, so brands launch in weeks instead of quarters. We're headquartered in Ireland, with a production and technical hub in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, and teams across Ireland, the UK and Canada. Over the next few years we plan to add production capacity in more international markets and grow our management and shared-services team in Mullingar.
If you've recently graduated, or you feel ready for more than your current role gives you, this is a chance to build your accounting career inside a scale-up. You'll join early, help set up the finance function, and over time take on more of the day-to-day finance work across the Irish parent company and its international operations.
What will you do?
- Process supplier and customer invoices, credit notes, expenses and company card transactions
- Keep purchase, sales and nominal ledgers accurate across the group entities
- Reconcile bank, supplier, customer, card and intercompany balances
- Support accounts receivable, payment runs, debtor follow-up and short-term cash reporting
- Prepare month-end schedules and help run the monthly close
- Pull together VAT, GST and routine compliance information for management and our external advisers to review
- Help build Cell, project and departmental reporting as the business develops
- Keep clear supporting records for capital expenditure, grants, investor reporting and audit
- Work with colleagues in Ireland, Canada and the UK so finance information stays complete and current
- Help roll out and improve our finance software and automation
- Document finance processes and strengthen controls as we scale
Who are we looking for?
- A recent graduate or early-career finance professional, with roughly 0 to 3 years of relevant experience
- A business, finance, accounting or Accounting Technician qualification, or equivalent practical experience
- A sound grasp of basic accounting principles and a willingness to learn by doing
- Strong Excel and confidence picking up new systems. Sage 50, AccountsIQ, AutoEntry or similar is useful but not essential
- Accuracy and organisation, with real ownership of deadlines and follow-up
- Comfort with routine processing, plus the instinct to find better ways to organise and automate it
- Clear, confident communication with colleagues, customers, suppliers and advisers in different locations
- Curiosity about the wider business, including how our production Cells operate
- Someone trustworthy, reliable and self-directed, who asks questions when something doesn't look right
- The ambition to grow toward management accounts and more finance responsibility
How does the role grow?
In the first year the focus is dependable day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations and month-end support. As your experience builds, the role can take in cash-flow reporting, management accounts, budgeting, Cell and project reporting, intercompany accounting and support for group consolidation.
Strong performers will have room to progress at Swaay. For the right person, we're also open to supporting a relevant professional accounting qualification.
What do we offer?
- A competitive base salary that reflects your experience, your capability and the development support you'd like, such as time or fees for professional exams
- A full-time role at our Mullingar head office, working closely with senior management
- A real career and promotion path in a growing international industrial technology company
- Ongoing training and development, with exposure to finance across an international group
- Scope for support toward a relevant professional accounting qualification
- The chance to shape systems and processes rather than inherit a narrowly defined role
- A six-month probationary period, with regular reviews and a formal review each year
Finding the right person matters more to us than filling the role quickly. We're flexible on start date, whether you could join soon or several months from now.
